Proctors

(Density - Moisture Content Relationship)

Compaction Test establishes the maximum unit weight that a soil or backfill material can be compacted to, using a controlled compacting force at an optimum water content.

This is a laboratory test for the placement of soils and other materials used for embankments, pavements, and structural fills. The in-place measured density of the compacted fill is compared to the Proctor test results to determine the degree (percentage) of compaction. For most cable trench backfills, density requirements range from 85% to 95% of Standard or Modified Proctor density.

Geotherm performs both Modified (ASTM D1557) and Standard (ASTM D698) Proctor Tests.
